Why are there so many police involved shootings in Texas of unarmed black people in their own homes?

September 6, 2018: 26-year old Botham Jean was shot by a police officer in his own home because she thought it was her apartment. Reuters notes on October 1, 2019 that a Dallas, Texas jury found “police officer Amber Guyger guilty of murder for accidentally walking into a neighbor’s apartment while thinking it was her own and fatally shooting him as he ate ice cream.”

October 14, 2019 Fort Worth officer fatally shot Atatiana Jefferson in her home. He was charged with murder.

ABC notes “The police officer who fatally shot a Fort Worth, Texas, woman in her home while answering a call for a welfare check on October 12 has been arrested on murder charges. The charge comes after the officer abruptly resigned on Monday just before he was about to be fired for allegedly violating multiple department policies, the police chief said.”

October 17, 2018 unarmed Charles Roundtree was shot by police.

“The incident occurred around 1:25 a.m. Oct. 17 in a house in the 200 block of Roberts Street. Roundtree, Davante Snowden, 24, and Taylor Singleton, also 24, were listening to music in the living room, surfing the web and talking.”
