A new article at The Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis looks at attacks by ISIS on the Shammar tribe in Iraq in June.
It begins: “What follows is an exclusive interview with Ali Nawfil Al-Hasan a leader of the Shammar tribe, from its Al-Aslam section of the tribe, and President of the Council of Dour district.”
The interview by Kareem Botane is important because it looks at the developing possibility of a new ISIS insurgency in Iraq’s Saladin province. After Shammar tribesmen were attacked and kidnapped the tribe has threatened to fight ISIS themselves and asked the government for weapons.
